1. Be trustworthy: Be true to your North

  3. Be precise Let the child repeat what you have said to ensure clear communication
  4. participatory: Involve the kids when you are setting out rules
  5. Write down the rules and stick them on the bedroom or kitchen walls
  6. Reinforce appropriate behaviour. Do not show up when the child is always in the wrong
  7. Do not brand the child as bad or good. Brand the behaviour either as acceptable/ unacceptable
  8. Never undermine the other parent: Parents should back each other
  9. Be consistent
